The 14 YO Had Just Returned Home
“What did you do today?”
“Mom, went to motorcycle shops, a movie, had a hotdog, and bought a magazine. Met the nicest lady on the bus.”
“Oh?”
“Husband’s at sea, she’s lonely.”
“Hmmm.”
“Asked me over to watch TV. Wrote her phone number in lipstick on my magazine.”
He always wondered how that magazine vanished.

I don't understand this one. I don't get the part about the magazine vanishing.

A confession. Yep, this happened to me. Navy base housing is walking distance to my mom's house. Actually, my brother now owns the house and lives there.
DeleteAnyway, this older lady (hey, she could have been all of 20....what did I know?) seemed to have had designs on me.
Of course, when my mom heard the story, yep, she got rid of the magazine with the lady's phone number.
Thanks,
George
